Shortcodes
You can accomplish most of what you need to do in your documentation site using just markup. However, there are times we need special functionality in our Hugo sites that just can’t be done with markup alone.
To solve this challenge, Hugo offers the concept of shortcodes, which are HTML-based macros that can be called from within your markup.
Shortcodes can take parameters, allowing them to provide more flexible behavior.
Your Hugo site can define its own local shortcodes. Store these in your site’s layouts/shortcodes folder.
The jhDocs theme also provides its own collection of useful shortcodes, described below. Use these custom shortcodes to bring your documentation to life.
