Markdown

You’ll write your documentation for jhDocs documentation sites in markdown, a lightweight syntax for formatting text.

Writing with markdown is much simpler than writing in HTML, allowing you to format your documentation easily as text, headers, lists, images, links, and code blocks, using any text editor.

Hugo

Hugo is the tool we use to maintain Jack Henry tech documentation sites. Hugo is a static site generator that transforms your markdown into a full website for your documentation.

The benefit of using a static site generator like Hugo is that it allows you to focus on your content, while Hugo and the jhDocs Hugo theme take care of everything else for you.

The Process

The process is simple…

  • Your team authors your content
  • Hugo turns your markdown-based content into a Hugo site
  • The jhDocs theme turns your Hugo site into a Jack Henry Docs documentation site
